The Cook prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, with established policies and procedures, and assures patient safety. Assists in all preparation of resident, family, and employee meals, helps deliver and take orders as needed. May be directed by the GM and/or Executive Chef.
Minimum one (1) year food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting is desired. Two (2) years of experience in food and beverage operations preferred. Knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioning. Ability to read and follow recipes, diet orders, and work assignments. Willingness to work flexible hours, including emergencies. Patience and tolerance towards staff, patients, and families.
Ability to read, write, and speak English. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Preference for education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets.
Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, bend, lift, carry, and manipulate food products, supplies, and equipment. Ability to work with chemicals and lift/carry 50-75 pounds.
