Allied Services in Wilkes-Barre, PA seeks a Cook I to prepare, cook and serve meals for patients, clients and staff. The role requires attention to age-specific needs and safe food handling.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 2–3 years of institutional cooking experience, and PA State Police background clearance; strong reading, math and communication skills are essential.
Under the general supervision of the Director, Dietary Operations CCSNC, the Cook I prepares, cooks and serves food for patients, clients, residents, employees and catered events of Allied Services.
Assigned duties are implemented in a manner appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patients served.

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Culinary Arts degree preferred.
Two (2) to three (3) years institutional or commercial cooking experience required.
Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check.
Good verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with staff and visitors.
Must be able to read.
Ability to perform mathematical functions (simple calculations, conversions) required.
Must be knowledgeable in use and care of food service equipment.
Moderate Work: duties require exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally (approx 10-33% of shift), and/or up to 10lbs. of force frequently(approx 33-66% of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects (i.e., occasional patient transfers).
Position involves bending, reaching, and stooping (occasionally in strained position) throughout shift.
Individual will be required to stand for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to transport self throughout facility is required.
Individual may be subject to minor burns, scrapes, cuts, slips and falls in performance of normal duties.
Works in a well-lit, ventilated area.
Occasional variances in temperatures (hot/cold) in performance of normal duties.
