Yona Solutions in Charleston, Illinois is seeking a motivated cook to join our dining team. You will prepare meals per the menu, maintain safety and sanitation, and deliver friendly service to residents, visitors, and coworkers.

The role requires ability to follow recipes, manage portions, and work within paced meal times. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and a background check is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Cook.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety guidelines.
• Skilled in preparing meals according to instructions.
• Apt in operating cookware, bakeware and cooking appliances.
• Friendly with good communication skills.
• Good physical condition and stamina.
• High school diploma or equivalent; certification in food services is a plus.
• Must provide a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all food according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner under the direction of the food services director.
• Ensures proper preparation, portioning, and serving of foods according to recipes.
• Prepares quality food products according to recipes and menus.
• Adheres to all safety and sanitation standards.
• Cooks in a timely manner at specified meal times.
• Responds to community issues or concerns in the dining room.
• Follows sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules.
• Cleans dishes, utensils and cooking equipment.
• Ensures all food is labeled and dated in storage areas.
• Oversees proper food handling to prevent contamination and reduce cost.
• Suggests menu or recipe changes to utilize leftovers.
• Cleans kitchen and storage areas.
