Job summary

SGMC Health is seeking a dedicated Food Service cook for the Main Campus, in the FOOD SERVICES department. You will prepare, season, and cook foods per standardized recipes for patients, staff, visitors, and catering, ensuring quality and proper temperatures.

Work hours are Full Time with varied shifts; adherence to health regulations is required. The role emphasizes accurate timing, sanitation, and collaboration with the Production Supervisor to maintain efficient, safe operations and

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate preferred; 1 year experience in bulk food preparation, preferably in health care.
  • Able to read, write, and perform simple math.
  • Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, seasons, and cooks all foods according to standardized recipes for patient, staff, visitors, and catering.
  • Responsible for quality, timing, and control of all hot food products.
  • Garnishes cafeteria line and ensures temperatures meet standards.
  • Follows local health and Joint Commission regulations and proper food handling procedures.

Position Summary

Prepares, seasons, and cooks all foods according to standardized recipes for patient, staff, visitors, and catering. Responsible for the quality, timing, and control of all hot food products. Garnishes cafeteria line insures all food temperatures meets or exceeds standard. Works closely with the Production Supervisor to ensure efficient, safe, and sanitary operations. Follows local health and Joint Commission regulations and proper food handling procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • High School Graduate preferred - 1 year experience in bulk food preparation, preferably in health care.
  • Able to read, write, use simple math, follow oral and written instructions.
  • Knowledge and requirements of safe and sanitary food handing.
  • Shows courtesy, tact, and reasonable speed in performance of duties.
  • Able to tolerate stress and attend to task/function with frequent interruptions.
  • Able to remember multiple task/assignments given for a full shift.
  • Able to organize work to meet serving schedules.
Working Conditions – ADA Information

Requires extensive walking and standing during shift. Requires lifting and bending using correct techniques. Able to lift loads up to 50 lbs. Exposed to hazard of burns and cuts due to working with hot equipment, sharp knives and meat slicer. Exposure to infectious material. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
