Job summary

The Salvation Army Haverhill Corps is seeking a Cook / Food Service Coordinator to oversee daily meal operations in Haverhill, MA. This part-time role (20 hours weekly) includes menu planning, cooking, cleaning and inventory control for those in need, on-site service and volunteer coordination.

Required: 2+ years in a commercial kitchen, high school diploma, and certifications such as ServSafe, CPR/First Aid, and allergen awareness. Benefits include PTO, pension plan, and supplemental insurance.

Qualifications

  • Must be ServSafe, Kitchen Manager certified
  • High School Diploma, Associates and/or Bachelors in Culinary Arts preferred
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Experience creating menus and meals for 100–200 clients
  • Must lift average of 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily meals according to planned menus with flexibility to use food donations
  • Follow ServSafe protocols for handling and storage of food and equipment
  • Regularly clean all kitchen equipment, counters, floors, etc
  • Meet with Corps Officer to review personnel issues, menu plans, and purchasing needs
  • Prepare, cook and serve meals on site to those in need, with volunteers
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers related to the Soup Kitchen
  • Maintain inventory of food and supplies
  • Perform other duties within scope of the position.

The Salvation Army’s Haverhill Corps., Is Hiring a Cook / Food Service Coordinator And Offers The Following Benefit Package To Part-time Employees

Location: 395 Main St. Haverhill, MA

Hours/week: 20 hours per week

Exemption: Non-exempt

Pay Range: $15.30 - $21.42 per hour

  • While the full salary range is shown, we expect to hire around $20.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

The Cook/Food Service Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day Food Service Operation at the Haverhill Corps. This person must perform duties including but not limited to menu planning, cooking, cleaning and inventory control.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare daily meals according to planned menus, with flexibility to creatively utilize food donations
  • Follow all ServSafe protocols regarding proper handling and storage of food and equipment.
  • Regularly clean all kitchen equipment, counters, floors, etc
  • Work and meet regularly with Corps Officer (s) to review personnel issues, menu plans, and supply and purchasing needs
  • Prepare, cook and serve meals on site to those in need, sometimes with the assistance of volunteers
  • Recruit, train, and supervise all volunteers related to the Soup Kitchen
  • Maintain inventory of food and supplies

Perform other duties within the scope of the position.

Qualifications

Education Requirements: High School Diploma, Associates and/or Bachelors in Culinary Arts preferred

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen
  • Experience with creating menus and preparing meals for 100 -200 clients

Other Qualifications:

  • Must be ServSafe, Kitchen Manager certified
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified
  • Must have allergen awareness certification
  • Supervisory skills preferred (to manage volunteers)
  • Must have excellent organization skills
  • Must understand FIFO inventory control
  • Must have ability to lift an average of 50lbs
  • Must be able to treat all people of varying background with dignity and respect
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, bi-lingual preferred
