Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking a compassionate Cook for Eldora Specialty Care, a 46-bed long-term care community in Eldora, IA. Part-time evenings 2pm-8pm with every other weekend. Join a team recognized for exceptional care in a supportive environment.

You will contribute to menu planning, prepare meals, and ensure nutritious, attractive dishes while following dietary and safety standards. Healthcare dietary experience is a plus, and training is provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
• Experience in a healthcare dietary setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious and well-balanced per dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive relationships with residents and incorporate feedback into meal service.

What You’ll Do & Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to menu planning and meal preparation, bringing creativity and personal flair while meeting nutritional guidelines and resident preferences.
• Prepare and serve meals that create an enjoyable, dignified dining experience and support residents’ comfort, satisfaction, and quality of life.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and attractively presented in accordance with dietary requirements and food safety standards.
• Develop positive, respectful relationships with residents by engaging with them and incorporating feedback into meal service whenever possible.

What it takes to become a Cook with Care Initiatives:

• Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service.
• Willingness to complete training in Food, Safety, Sanitation and Modified Diets.
