Job Purpose

The Dietary Aide assists with food preparation in accordance with established procedural guidelines and as directed by the Food Service/Dietary Manager/Supervisor. The Cook prepares palatable, nutritionally sound meals consistent with departmental policies, procedures, and legal regulations, meeting daily nutritional and special diet needs of residents. Ensures foods are prepared and served at proper temperatures and times. Works with the Director of Food Service to allocate resources efficiently, maintaining residents' nutritional health and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in meal preparation, including salads, desserts, snacks, and between-meal nourishments.
• Follow diet orders and NPO diet guidelines.
• Serve nourishments according to procedural guidelines.
• Properly store leftovers and opened foods.
• Follow procedures for serving partner meals and record menu substitutions.
• Comply with infection control policies.
• Deliver trays to residents and assist with serving beverages.
• Clean dining and work areas after meals, including dishwashing and equipment cleaning.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and supplies, record temperatures, and ensure safety standards.
• Follow recipes and prepare meals according to menu cycles, ensuring nutritional adequacy and presentation.
• Supervise kitchen staff assisting with food prep and cleanup.
• Prepare substitutes for residents' dietary preferences and monitor tray acceptance.
• Use food preparation equipment safely and according to manufacturer instructions.

Minimum Education and Experience
