Harmony Gardens Assisted Living is seeking a dependable, energetic, and resident-focused Cook/Cook Assistant to help provide nutritious, high-quality meals to our residents. This position plays an important role in promoting resident health, satisfaction, and quality of life through excellent food service and hospitality.

The Cook/Cook Assistant is responsible for assisting with meal preparation, food service, sanitation, and kitchen operations while maintaining compliance with food safety standards and facility policies. The ideal candidate is organized, team-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional service to residents.
Prepare and serve meals according to menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
Assist with meal plating and presentation.
Ensure food is prepared safely and served at proper temperatures.
Follow therapeutic and special diet instructions as directed.
Assist with resident meal service and customer satisfaction.
Prepare snacks and beverages as scheduled.
Assist with food receiving and storage.
Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
Maintain adequate supplies and report inventory needs.
Assist with dishwashing and kitchen cleaning duties as needed.
Properly store food and supplies according to food safety guidelines.
Follow Ohio food safety regulations and facility policies.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment.
Clean and sanitize food preparation surfaces and equipment.
Follow infection prevention and personal hygiene practices.
Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
Provide courteous and respectful service to residents, families, and guests.
Work collaboratively with dietary staff and other departments.
Support a positive dining experience for residents.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment.
Ability to perform physical duties associated with food service.
Ability to pass required background screening.
Previous experience as a cook, dietary aide, cook assistant, or food service worker.
Experience in assisted living, long-term care, healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality settings.
Food Handler or ServSafe certification.
Experience working with seniors.
Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to follow recipes and standardized production procedures.
Strong organization and time-management skills.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Excellent customer service skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in hot and cold kitchen environments.
Ability to push, pull, and transport food carts and supplies.
