Job summary

The Centers is seeking an experienced cook to prepare, cook and package meals in a timely manner while upholding high quality standards. The role ensures daily cleaning and sanitization of kitchen and prep areas to meet regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include following recipes, assisting with menu modifications for clients, and maintaining accurate records. The Centers offers comprehensive wellbeing benefits and opportunities within a diverse team.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year working as a cook in a food service kitchen.
  • Serve Safe certification is preferred, with the ability to acquire within one year of hire.
  • Experience in institutional (large-scale) meal planning and preparation is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and portion ingredients prior to cooking, including washing, cutting, and marinating according to guidelines.
  • Follow recipes and ensure consistent quality.
  • Collaborate with the Food Service Manager to modify preparation or daily menus to meet client needs.
  • Assist in inventory control by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.
  • Complete monthly food and non-food inventories and restock as needed.
  • Maintain accurate food service records.
  • Adhere to funder and regulator policies including USDA and Department of Health guidelines.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards and proper food handling.
  • Adhere to sanitation guidelines for surfaces, storage, appliances, and attire.
  • Clean refrigerators/freezers per manufacturer recommendations and clean/polish surfaces daily.
  • Label and store perishable and nonperishable items.
  • Sweep and mop floors daily and address spills promptly.
  • Participate in agency self-assessments and required monitoring.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

  • Cleans refrigerator and freezer according to manufacturer’s recommendations
  • Cleans/polishes stove, counters, and appliances daily.
  • Properly labels and stores perishable and nonperishable food items.
  • Sweeps and mops floor daily; mops spills as they occur.
Other Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Participate in agency self-assessments, funder reviews, and required monitoring.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
