Position Summary

The cook is responsible for preparing all meal items according to the menu, resident preferences, and diets, ensuring adherence to quality and safety policies during production.

Qualifications

• Must have a ROCKSTAR attitude
• Ability to read, write, speak English, communicate effectively, and follow instructions
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygiene
• Food Safety Manager Certification required within 30 days of hire
• Preferred: One year of cooking experience in a healthcare setting; healthcare kitchen experience is considered
• Ability to follow recipes, perform basic math, and lead in the absence of the Director of Food & Nutrition Services

Essential Functions

• Prepare food according to menus, diets, and tray cards
• Perform daily cleaning following sanitation and safety policies
• Manage ordering, receiving, storing, preparing, and serving food
• Operate equipment safely; report repairs immediately
• Maintain clean and safe work areas
• Maintain regular attendance
• Provide positive customer service to residents, families, and staff
• Adhere to dress code and workplace behavior standards
• Perform other duties as needed

Physical Requirements

Ability to safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, reaching, with or without accommodations.

Work Schedule

As assigned, including some weekends, evenings, and holidays; non-exempt position.
