Job summary

Allegria Village in Dearborn, MI is seeking a compassionate Cook to join our Dietary Services team supporting residents in assisted living and skilled nursing.

The Cook will prepare nutritious meals per menus and dietary requirements, maintain safety and cleanliness, and work closely with servers and aides.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and experience in food service; appreciation for working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to established menus and portion standards.
• Follow dietary instructions and resident dietary requirements as directed.
• Ensure meals are served at appropriate temperatures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and prep areas.
• Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Assist with meal service and ensure food is prepared and available according to the dining schedule.
• Monitor food quality, appearance, taste, and portion sizes.
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies as needed.
• Maintain appropriate food inventories and communicate supply needs to the Dietary Services team.
• Follow all applicable regulations regarding food service and sanitation.
• Complete required kitchen and food safety checklists and documentation.
• Work collaboratively with servers, dietary aides, and other team members.
• Assist with special events and other community dining needs.

Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving meals according to established menus recipes and dietary requirements while maintaining high standards for food quality safety and sanitation. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work works well as part of a team and understands the importance of providing meals that are both appealing and appropriate for our residents.

What Youll Do

• Prepare meals and food items according to established menus recipes and portion standards.

• Follow special diet instructions and resident dietary requirements as directed.

• Ensure food is prepared and served at appropriate temperatures.

• Maintain a clean organized and sanitary kitchen and food preparation areas.

• Follow proper food handling storage and sanitation procedures at all times.

• Assist with meal service and ensure food is prepared and available according to the established dining schedule.

What Were Looking For

• Experience in senior living healthcare hospitality or institutional food service is a plus.

• Knowledge of proper food handling preparation and sanitation practices.
