Elite Care at Fanno Creek in Tigard, Oregon, seeks a full-time cook to plan and prepare meals from scratch, creating nutritious, community-building experiences for residents. You will engage residents in meal planning and align with individual service plans, helping make the kitchen the heart of the home.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years or older.
• 6 months experience cooking in long-term care preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to pass a food service sanitation course.
• Obtain a food handlers card.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and follow recipes.
• Experience in food service or restaurant work.
• Comfortable standing and frequent movement.
• Strong knowledge of cooking methods and safety.
• Familiarity with general kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and oversight of household meals.
• Prepare healthy, nutritious meals, from scratch whenever possible.
• Maintain unit portions and report when a resident eats less than usual.
• Utilize fruits and vegetables grown in the Elite Care gardens whenever possible.
• Understand and follow each resident’s service plan as it relates to nutrition and hydration.
• Support residents’ autonomy by allowing residents to do as much for themselves as possible.

As a cook with us, you will support residents and accommodate their individual tastes and service plans by engaging them in the meal planning and preparation process.
