Job Summary

Glenwell, a DePaul Senior Living Community is hiring a part-time Cook. The role requires 24 hours per week (10:30 am – 7 pm) with pay ranging from $17.00 to $17.30 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall function of kitchen and dining room services while on shift.
• Create an environment of respectful teamwork by supervising and working alongside Dietary Aides.
• Ensure food preparation and sanitation practices follow safe‑environment policies.
• Prepare and serve residents the diet prescribed by their physicians in a friendly, customer‑service‑oriented manner.
• Act professionally at all times and serve as a role model to other staff.
• Complete other duties as assigned by the Dietary Director.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old; high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years of experience in the food service industry preferred.
• Required annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Annual Health Assessment.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply standards of sanitary food preparation.
• Required references and criminal record check.
• Experience working in well‑lit, air‑conditioned/heated environments and ability to handle exposure to residents with communicable diseases or who may become combative.
• Experience with protective equipment when working with chemicals or cleaning up broken glass; familiarity with food‑preparation equipment such as slicers, grinders, mixers, dishwashers, garbage disposals, stoves, and coffeemakers.
