Educational Opportunities for Children and Families in Long Beach is seeking a Cook and Bus Monitor to support pre-K meals and student transportation. The role includes meal prep per a pre-planned menu, allergy accommodations, and shopping while also assisting with bus-related supervision and parent communication.

The position is 30 hours per week, daytime, with benefits eligibility. Washington state food handler and First Aid/CPR training are required or provided, and a valid driver's license

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months of food prep/handling experience recommended.
• Experience with batch cooking or catering desired.
• Bi-lingual highly desired.
• Knowledge of nutrition plans and allergy considerations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals per planned menu for pre-K children.
• Accommodate meals for allergies and special dietary needs.
• Maintain supplies, stock groceries and manage inventory.
• Keep equipment clean and documentation up to date.
• Assist Bus Monitor duties: ride with Bus Driver, help children with buckling, sign in/out, and communicate with parents.
• Move children between bus and classroom as needed.

Love cooking, teamwork, and working with kids? Join us as a Cook and Bus Monitor at our Long Beach site!

You'll prepare meals for our pre-K children from a pre-planned menu, including separate meals for children with food allergies. You'll also keep supplies stocked, do some grocery shopping, and maintain equipment and documentation.

As Bus Monitor, you'll ride the bus with the Bus Driver, help children buckle and unbuckle, communicate with parents, sign children in and out using our agency software, and help move children between the bus and classroom. Other duties as assigned.

This benefits-eligible position is 30 hours per week at $22.00/hour, Monday–Friday daytime hours during the school year.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: Six months experience or education in food preparation/handling, batch cooking, and/or catering experience desired. Experience with Nutrition Care Plans and/or allergy sensitivities highly desired.

*Bi-lingual highly desired.

Ability to:

Work cooperatively with staff members, families and children from varying backgrounds.

Maintain confidentiality of records and information

Follow proper food preparation and handling guidelines

Follow a premade menu

Certifications and Other Requirements:

Valid Washington State Food Handlers Card - Must be obtained within 30 days of hire

Valid First Aid and CPR card - EOCF will provide training if needed.

Valid Driver's License

Reliable transportation

Acceptable driving abstract
