General Summary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Must have knowledge of food product compliance, food safety, food cost and tray cost
• Must have experience with Point of Sale System
• Ability to work in a multi‑cultural, urban setting and develop a rapport with students, staff, parents, and the school community
• Physical Demands – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and/or walk, may be required to lift up to 30 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare entrees in accordance with established recipes and menu
• Portion and serve dishes
• Operate point of sale system and complete cashier duties
• Assist with maintaining food production, inventory, and temperature records
• Fill in when Cafeteria Lead is absent
• Must participate in training as given by managerial staff
• Make sure that all food handling techniques are followed
• Assist with cleaning equipment and kitchen area
• Establish good rapport with building staff and students
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Money handling experience preferred

Special Requirements

Must be ServSafe Certified.

Working Conditions

School cafeteria environment where there is no physical discomfort due to temperature or issues related to cleanliness.
