Job summary

Job Location: KT-Louisville Area Command - Louisville, KY 40203 Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More Salary Range: $15.75 - $15.75 Hourly Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Weekend Job Category: Food Service Schedule/Hours: This position is based on-site, from 10am - 6pm, Saturday's and Sunday's. $15.75 hourly

This position is responsible for:

Plans, prepares, cooks, and serves nutritious meals and snacks per established guidelines and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures all meals are prepared and served safely and presentably.
  • Maintains a high degree of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining room, ensures that all meals are prepared safely, and ensures that all kitchen personnel practice proper personal hygiene.
  • Maintains proper supply and orderliness of kitchen stock inventory to meet the kitchen's needs; orders, receives, and processes food purchases; verifies that invoices are accurate and submits them for further processing.
  • The Cook is considered an essential position and is expected to work in inclement weather or catastrophic conditions and may have to work holidays or be on call.
  • Performs other related work as required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Work requires the ability to lift, carry, and push/pull moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by a combination of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to cook, taste, and smell food.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU:

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent,
  • And one year of experience cooking food for large groups,
  • Or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a typical kitchen environment where limited physical discomforts may be associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers.
