Job summary

SSP America is hiring a Cook 2 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to join a fast-paced, multi-brand kitchen environment. You will follow recipes, manage station setup, and ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients, while maintaining kitchen cleanliness and equipment upkeep.

Qualifications

• One year experience in a food service environment is essential.
• Verbal and written communication is essential.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Food handlers permit, as required by law.
• Brand Certification, as required.
• Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Follows the recipes, checks portions, garnishes and presents dishes as ordered.
• Has correct setup at each shift; handles orders and stores fresh, dry and frozen goods; manages condiments and supplies.
• Rotates and stores products properly to maintain quality.
• Sets up, maintains, cleans and ensures proper functioning of equipment and machines.
• Manages stock, cutting and storage of perishable goods daily to maintain quality.
• Puts away utensils, cleans and tidies work areas and storage; handles bins.
• Performs general hygiene cleaning as directed by the manager to meet standards.
• Takes instructions from the manager and verifies stock before leaving to ensure order.

Here are a few things you can expect as a Cook at SSP America:

• Follows the recipes, checks the portion of the recipes, the garnishes and present the dishes ordered.
• Have the correct and adequate set up in the kitchen / work station at each shift. This includes making orders, storing, storing all fresh, dry, frozen goods; condiments and supplies.
• Handle, store and rotate the stored products properly.
• In charge of setting up, regular maintenance, cleaning and proper functioning of assigned equipment and machines.
• In charge of the supply of stocks, cutting, and storage of perishable goods every day in order to maintain the quality of the products.
• Put all the utensils used during the shift in its place, clean and tidy up its work place as well as the storage areas (includes refrigerators, freezers), empty, clean and store the bins.
• Practice general and specific cleanings using the appropriate products as indicated by the manager in order to meet hygiene standards.
• Take the instructions from the manager when taking office and take stock with the manager before leaving to make sure everything is in order.
