Qualifications

• High School/GED equivalent required.
• ServSafe or other nationally accredited food safety certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of quantity cooking in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with the culinary team to provide high-quality foods for patients, residents, caregivers, and customers.
• Prepare special items for patients/customers with dietary restrictions (e.g. gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan).
• Follow recipes and product directions for preparing food items for consumption.
• Operate ovens, fryers, steamers, and grills.
• Perform proper knife skills to cut, dice, and slice foods.
• Handle and prepare raw items and assemble sauces and baked goods.
• Minimize waste by utilizing leftovers appropriately.
• Keep work areas, coolers, and freezers clean and sanitized.
• Follow production records and scale recipes.
• Maintain HACCP documentation and industry food-safety standards.
• Assist with catering events and menu development.

• Pay or shift range: $16 USD to $19 USD
  The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

5 am to 6:30 pm
Weekends: Every Other

Position Overview:

The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality and nutritional food for patients, residents, caregivers, and visitors at Winona Health. This position helps develop menus and recipes for delicious, quality food items focusing on Winona Health’s wellness initiatives. This position must be flexible to work in several positions with varied responsibilities. Must provide excellent customer service to those we serve. Works well with fellow caregivers to create a positive team environment.

• Works with the culinary team to provide high-quality foods for patients, residents, caregivers, and customers.
• Prepare special items for patients/customers with dietary restrictions (i.e. gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, etc.)
• Follows recipes and/or product directions for preparing food items for consumption.
• Operates a variety of kitchen equipment to prepare foods including ovens, fryers, steamers, and grills.
• Performs tasks using proper knife skills to cut, dice, and slice whole food items.
• Handles and prepares raw food items for service (chopping vegetables, cutting raw or cooked meats, preparing sauces, baking)
• Utilize leftover food appropriately to minimize waste.
• Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains work areas including coolers and freezers.
• Follows and understands production records.
• Follows, understands, and can scale recipes
• Maintains required regulatory and HACCP documentation
• Understands and abides by industry standards for food safety practices
• Assists with catering events as needed.
• Assists with menu development for a wide range of customers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential skills and experience:

• High School/GED Equivalent required
• ServSafe or other nationally accredited food safety Certification preferred
• 1-2 years of quantity cooking in a healthcare setting preferred
