Job summary

St. Joseph's Living Center in Connecticut is seeking a Cook to prepare and cook meals per menus and therapeutic diets. The role requires attention to safety standards, collaboration with the dietitian, and flexibility to cover multiple shifts.

Positions are offered as Full-Time, Part-Time, or PRN with shifts 5:30AM-1:30PM and 11:00AM-7:00PM, including rotating weekends and holidays. Prior long-term care or hospital kitchen experience is preferred, with 1+ year as a cook and Serv Safe

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 1+ year experience as a Cook in a commercial setting.
• Serv Safe Managers Certificate.
• Prior experience in a long-term care or hospital setting preferred.
• Ability to function both independently and as a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluent English written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, therapeutic diet requirements, and approved food safety and sanitation standards, including alternative meal selections when needed.
• Review menus before food preparation, ensure ingredients and supplies are available for upcoming meals, and help maintain a clean, organized food storage area.
• Follow all safety regulations, infection control practices, and sanitary procedures throughout food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Collaborate with the dietitian and interdisciplinary team, including CNAs, to implement dietary recommendations and support quality resident care.
