Job summary

Wheaton Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a skilled Cook to join our Dietary team. You will prepare a wide variety of meals for residents, staff, and visitors, while ensuring high standards of sanitation and service.

Responsibilities include following diets prescribed by attending physicians, maintaining meal schedules, and promoting a caring and compassionate dining experience. Prior institutional food handling and Serv Safe certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read, write, speak, and follow written and oral directions in English
• Experience in institutional food handling is preferred
• Active ANSI accredited/Serv Safe certificate
• Knowledge of volume food production methods and sanitation regulations in institutional kitchens
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic
• Ability to solve operational problems in the absence of management
• Awareness of dietetic principles

• Prepares palatable and appetizing meals as prescribed for customers by attending physicians
• Meets required meal schedules
• Takes necessary measures to avoid food waste
• Properly cares for dietary equipment and production sheets

• Cooperates with other dietary staff and center personnel
• Puts customer service first and ensures high quality service in a caring atmosphere
• Performs other duties as requested

Requirements:

• Some knowledge of dietetic principles
