Missouri Veterans Home-Warrensburg is seeking a friendly Cook to join our dietary team. You will prepare meals, follow recipes, and ensure diets ordered by physicians are served accurately in a respectful, compassionate setting for Veterans.

The role offers an hourly wage between $17.45 and $19.77, day and evening shifts, with opportunities to grow in a team-focused environment that values quality, cleanliness, and safety.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of work experience in a kitchen or food service.
• Ability to prepare meals according to recipes and dietary orders.
• Commitment to sanitary kitchen practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals per recipes and diets as ordered by physician.
• Assist in large production meal prep and portions.
• Coordinate small work group with Food Service Assistants.
• Handle, store, and serve food following protocols.
• Maintain sanitary kitchen conditions and clean equipment.
• Operate and sanitize kitchen equipment as required.

Hourly Rate:

• $17.45 - $17.77 day shift
• $19.45 - $19.77 evening shift

Examples of Work:

• Prepare meals according to recipes and serve according to diets as ordered by the physician.
• Perform a variety of skilled cooking assignments, including daily preparation of portions of a large production meal and intermittent preparation of all portions of a large production meal
• Coordinate activities of a small work group including Food Service Assistants as needed
• Ensure food is handled, stored, and served within protocols
• Maintain sanitary conditions in the kitchen by participating in the cleaning of stoves, cookers, kettles and all other related cooking and food storage devices
• Operate equipment, making sure it is properly cleaned and sanitized after each use and report problems per facility policy
