Job summary

The Phoenix Center for Rehabilitation & Pediatrics is a skilled nursing facility in Haskell, NJ, seeking reliable Cooks to join our team. You will help plan, organize, and direct the dietary operation to ensure safe, sanitary, and high-quality nutritional services are provided.

Responsibilities include preparing and serving meals per menu and diet orders, maintaining sanitary kitchen conditions, and assisting the Food Service Director with changes.

Qualifications

• Must be fully vaccinated for Covid including one booster (if eligible).
• ServSafe certificate required.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
• Long term care facility experience preferred.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to taste and smell food to determine quality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, and store foods in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies and procedures
• Serve food in accordance with the established menu, diet orders, and resident preferences
• Serve meals accurately and on a timely basis and check meal trays prior to distribution
• Work with the Food Service Director and implement recommended changes as required
• Assist in reviewing menus and production sheets as needed prior to food preparation and service
• Assist in checking and storage of all incoming supplies
• Follow Infection Control policies when performing daily tasks
• Ensure that stock levels of staple/non-staple food, supplies, and equipment are maintained at adequate levels at all times. Report shortages to the FSD.
• Maintain the kitchen in a safe and sanitary manner
