We currently own and operate 5 establishments: Calypso Bar and Grill, Repeal Bourbon and Burgers, and 3 Hair of the Dog Eatery’s (Downtown Granby, Hampton BLVD across from ODU, and Loehmann’s Plaza in Virginia Beach).

The line cook is responsible for preparing high-quality food in a timely, sanitary, and consistent manner. The role requires working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining organization, safety procedures, and teamwork. The candidate should be comfortable working in a high heat kitchen environment.

Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent helpful but not required.
  • Previous culinary schooling is beneficial.
  • At least two years of experience in a similar role.
  • Food Handlers certification is preferred but not mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Minimum of 4 days of open availability.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Physical ability to reach, bend, squat, and lift.
  • Capacity to withstand exposure to smoke, steam, high temperatures, humidity, and cold.
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Cooking raw and prepared foods to order.
  • Setting up and breaking down station areas.
  • Preparing dish components using standardized recipes.
  • Cleaning and maintaining refrigerators and storage areas.
  • Taking inventory and restocking supplies.
  • Communicating with team members to ensure quality and timely service.
  • Following food safety, temperature, and sanitation standards.
  • Properly rotating perishable items.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the Chef or Supervisor.
