Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to established menus, recipes, and portion guidelines.
  • Assist with food preparation, including cutting, chopping, measuring, mixing, and preparing ingredients.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner.
  • Maintain proper food temperatures and follow safe food-handling procedures.
  • Follow established sanitation, health, and food-safety requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen equipment, food-preparation areas, storage areas, and serving areas.
  • Properly store, label, rotate, and handle food products.
  • Assist with receiving and storing food and kitchen supplies as needed.
  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and properly.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory and minimizing food waste.

Job Description

Pay: $16.62 per hour

Annual Salary: Approximately $34,569.60

Employment Type: Full-Time

IMPORTANT - TWO WORK SCHEDULE OPTIONS AVAILABLE

Candidates may choose between the following work schedules:

Option 1 - Early Morning Schedule

Saturday through Wednesday: 4:15 AM - 12:45 PM

Days Off: Thursday and Friday

Option 2 - Combination Schedule

Monday and Tuesday: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 4:15 AM - 12:45 PM

Days Off: Saturday and Sunday

Please review the schedules carefully before applying. Candidates must be able to reliably report to work for their selected schedule, including the 4:15 AM start time when applicable.

Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for students and staff at the Boxelder Job Corps Center. This position supports daily food-service operations while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has previous experience working in a restaurant, cafeteria, school, hospital, institutional kitchen, catering operation, or other food-service environment.

Candidates should be dependable, punctual, comfortable working as part of a team, and capable of maintaining food-safety and sanitation standards in a busy kitchen environment.

The ability to reliably report for a 4:15 AM shift is especially important for this position.
