Summary of Job Duties:
Participate in the provision of quality meals and nutritional services to patients, staff, and guests.
Accept and reconcile deliveries and put away stock.
Clean work areas as necessary or assigned.
Prepare meals for patients, employees, medical staff, and visitors, including special diets upon request.
Serve meals to all cafeteria customers.
Clean and maintain equipment to comply with health regulations and standards.
Participate periodically in deep cleaning assignments as requested.
Entry Requirements:
Must be able to focus amidst distractions such as noise, conversations, and foot traffic; meet deadlines consistently; and complete food preparation at the specified serving time. Flexibility in work hours is required to meet patient and organizational needs. Maintain self-control in volatile or hostile customer interactions. Ability to adjust recipes and meal plans to achieve desired results. Read and understand recipes and instructions on prepackaged products. Convert and adjust measurements for recipes. Comply with DHEC regulations, especially #61-25. Safely operate kitchen equipment such as knives, slicers, mixers, and dishwashers. Understand hygiene standards involved in food preparation and cleaning methods. Work independently in a restricted physical environment for extended periods. Manage multiple tasks concurrently. Maintain confidentiality of information.
Machines, Tools, and Equipment:
Stove, oven (standard & convection), microwave, steamer, toaster, fryer, soft drink machines, food carts, coffee maker, slicer, mop, broom, bucket, sanitizers, food processor, electric mixer, telephone, knives, forks, spoons, trays, dish machine, gloves, pots, pans, peelers, spatulas, tongs, grill.
Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, and move about the work area. Fine motor skills to finger, grasp, and feel objects. Perform repetitive motions. Communicate effectively verbally and perceive sounds clearly. Work involves medium exertion, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently. Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments, including mechanical parts, electrical currents, and high heat. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, dust, gases, and poor ventilation.
Suitable for tasks involving inspection, data analysis, assembly, and operation of machinery at close range. Not substantially exposed to adverse conditions. Capable of extended periods of sitting, reading handwriting, and meeting deadlines. Customer-service oriented and helpful attitude.
