Job summary

Meridian Senior Living in Sidney, OH is seeking a Cook to join our Dining Services team. You will be responsible for ordering, preparing, and delivering meals, while ensuring food is nutritious, appetizing, and served with great customer service to residents and staff.

You will maintain kitchen sanitation, manage supplies, and support the Dining Services Manager. Prior food service experience and a Food Handlers Permit are preferred; passion for helping the elderly is essential in our caring

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of state-required training.
• Six months’ experience in a food service preferred.
• Must obtain Food Handlers Permit as required by state regulations.
• Previous experience working with the elderly.
• Must demonstrate ability to work as a team member and independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Manage food ordering and inventory for the community.
• Prepare and deliver meals ensuring nutritional and appetizing standards.
• Maintain kitchen sanitation and equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and staff.
• Collaborate with Dining Services Manager to ensure smooth operations.

Details about the Cook position we are hiring for:

As a Cook, you will work closely with our Dining Services Manager and will be responsible for the Community’s food ordering, preparation, and delivery as well as kitchen sanitation. Cook tasks in this role include ensuring food is prepared in a nutritional and appetizing fashion, maintaining supplies and equipment, and providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and successfully complete training as required by State regulations.
• Six (6) months’ prior experience in a food service department preferred.
• Supervisory experience desirable.
• Obtain Food Handlers Permit as required by State regulations.
• Previous experience working with the elderly.
• Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
• Must demonstrate the ability to work responsibly as a team member as well as an individual.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors and the general public.
• Must meet all health requirements and pass background checks.
