Job summary

Major Hospital in Shelbyville, IN is seeking an on-site Cook to prepare meals for patients, staff and visitors in a rotating shift pattern 7am–7pm, Mon–Fri and every other Sat/Sun.

You will follow current federal, state, and local standards and hospital policies, work under the Culinary Operations Manager, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen.

Experience in healthcare food service is preferred; strong teamwork and ability to adapt to emergency changes are valued.

Qualifications

• 1 year food service experience in a healthcare setting.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes, diet orders, and work assignments.
• Must be patient and tolerant towards staff, patients, and family members.
• Read, write and speak English.

Job Summary

This is a on-site Cook role located in Shelbyville, IN. The Cook prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, with established policies and procedures and assuring patient safety. May be directed by the Culinary Operations Manager and Director of Culinary Operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Sometimes assisting with tray assembly and delivery

Qualifications

• General knowledge of quantity of food preparation and portioned serving
• Ability to read, understand, and follow recipes, diet orders, and work assignments
• Able to work flexible hours, such as during emergency situations
• Must be patient and tolerant towards staff, patients, and family members
• 1 year food service experience in a healthcare setting
• Preferred education in therapeutic diets, not required
• Read, write and speak English
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
