Job summary

Shady Knoll Center for Health & Rehabilitation, part of National Health Care Associates, is seeking a Per‑Diem Cook to help provide nutritious, delicious meals for residents. You’ll follow dietary needs, maintain sanitation, and work with dietary staff to plan menus in a compassionate team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience as a Cook, preferably in healthcare or long-term care.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Safe knife handling skills.
• Experience operating slicers, ovens, grills, blenders, and other kitchen equipment.
• Ability to follow instructions for safe use and care of dietary equipment and prep areas.
• Compassionate and empathetic nature.
• Ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook nutritious meals following prescribed menus and dietary requirements.
• Ensure high-quality food preparation, presentation, and portion control.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and storage areas.

What You'll Bring:

Qualifications of a cook include:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Experience as a Cook, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Safe knife handling skills
• Experience operating commercial slicers, ovens, grills, large blenders, etc.
• Ability to follow instructions for the safe use, cleaning and care of dietary equipment, preparation and service areas

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
