Job summary

Courtyard & Residence Inn Raleigh Brier Creek is hiring a full-time Cook in the Brier Creek area of Raleigh, NC. The role requires work from 5am to 1pm, with weekday and weekend availability.

The cook will prepare breakfast and hot menu items, ensure proper temperatures, stock and present food attractively, and maintain clean work areas. Prior kitchen experience and knowledge of safety rules are required; culinary training is a plus.

• High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Culinary training is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all "hot" items for breakfast bar and/or restaurant in the prescribed manner and presents food attractively.
• Ensures food in warmers maintains required temperatures.
• Prepares appropriate amount of food in accordance with hotel occupancy.
• Maintains amount and quality of food in warmers to ensure high quality food from the breakfast bar.
• Prepares and garnishes all food orders as they are received in accordance with menu specifications.
• Checks coolers and storage areas for cleanliness, quantity, and quality of food products.
• Requisitions food with necessary approvals according to policy.
• Operates ranges, ovens, broilers, fryers, griddles and other equipment.
• Contributes to customer satisfaction by attending to restaurant customer needs.

The Courtyard & Residence Inn by Marriott, a dual brand hotel located in the Brier Creek area of Raleigh, is currently hiring for a full-time Cook. The person hired for this position will work 5am-1pm; weekday and weekend availability is required.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

To contribute to customer satisfaction by preparing and serving high quality food products in accordance with the standards of the hotel

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares all "hot" items for breakfast bar and/or restaurant in the prescribed manner and presents food in an attractive and appealing manner.
• Ensures food in warmers maintains required temperatures
• Prepares appropriate amount of food in accordance with hotel occupancy
• Maintains amount and quality of food in warmers to Ensure that each customer will receive high quality food from the breakfast bar
• Prepares and properly garnishes all food orders as they are received in accordance with menu specifications, ensuring proper plate presentation
• Checks all coolers and storage areas for cleanliness, quantity, and quality of food products
• Requisitions food with necessary approvals according to policy
• Takes proper care of ranges, ovens, broilers, fryers, griddles, utensils and other equipment
• Contributes to customer satisfaction by attending to restaurant customer needs
• Informs manager of any customer dissatisfaction
• Ensures that breakfast area/restaurant is in proper condition for arrival of customers
• Verifies workstations are stocked, neat and orderly
• Checks the overall condition of the dining room, insuring its readiness for customer

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience as cook
• Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
• A team player with good communication skills
• Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
• High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset

JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees in this position work primarily indoors. To perform the job successfully the candidate must possess manual dexterity, must be able to stand for long periods of time, have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, bend, stretch, twist, or reach out, and operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils. Fluency in the English language and the ability to speak, hear, read and write are required as is the ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements.
