Job summary

Rimrock-Trail in Oregon seeks a Kitchen Assistant in Residential Food and Nutrition Services to plan, prepare and serve meals. You will follow safety rules, prepare meals per the approved menu, and may cover for the Kitchen Manager during absences.

Compensation ranges $24–$26/hr, 36 hours per week, with benefits including health, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) with employer match, FSA, life insurance, holidays, PTO, sick leave and wellness days.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent and ability to pass DHS background check.
  • At least one year of professional kitchen food prep experience.
  • Knowledge of NSLP and USDA rules and nutritional requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and serve meals and snacks.
  • Follow safety and sanitary rules related to food handling.
  • Prepare meals per menu approved by Kitchen Manager.
  • Fill in for Kitchen Manager during sickness or vacation when needed.

Position Overview
  • Plan, prepare, and serve meals and snacks.
  • Follow all safety and sanitary rules and regulations related to food handling.
  • Prepare meals as instructed and according to menu approved by Kitchen Manager
  • As needed, fill in for the Kitchen Manager during sickness and vacation time.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowledge and Skills
  • Comply with and manage the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and USDA rules, regulations, and nutritional requirements.
  • Organize food preparation and serving operations to meet fixed schedules.
  • Prepare food for special occasions.
Kitchen Storage and Organization
  • Maintain daily paperwork, including food temperature logs to monitor and ensure food quality.
  • Ensure proper rotation of inventory.
  • Maintain kitchen equipment within sanitary specifications.
Maintain Structure and Organization
  • Clean kitchen and cafeteria to maintain professional standards.

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Applicant must pass DHS standards for criminal background check and hold no felony convictions of any kind within the last 3 years.At least one year preparing food in a professional kitchen
