Job summary

Woodbury Wellness Center, Inc. in Hampstead, NC is seeking a Cook to prepare and distribute meals for residents, staff, visitors and special events.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, cook, and distribute all menu items for residents, employees, visitors and special functions and will assist with any additional tasks determined by their supervisor
  • Assist in establishing and overseeing policies and standard operating procedures for the department
  • Provide a quality dining experience that exceeds customer expectations
  • Promote and provide a work environment of teamwork and respect amongst employees, integrity, world class customer service, financial responsibility, and continual pursuit of excellence
  • Follow all outlined Company, State, Federal and other applicable health and safety regulations with regard to food service, equipment use and personal hygiene. Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Comprehend and comply with verbal instructions/written standard recipes, production orders/record keeping systems, and cooking techniques in the preparation of daily menus
  • Fulfill all HACCP policy and procedures and monitor the flow of food
  • Produce, prepare and cook hot and cold foods including soups, sauces, salads, specials, entrees, catering, and other food items determined by the supervisor
  • Examine foods for quality and freshness and monitor food temperatures
  • Portion meals using appropriate measuring tools, garnish food, and oversee the distribution of food leaving the kitchen
  • Set up station prior to service with appropriate equipment and food determined by the supervisor and the distribution of food to the customers
  • Receive, unpack, unwrap, rotate, and stow deliveries into appropriate refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms via supervisors instructions
  • Clean and sanitize work station/area under supervisor’s instruction
  • Demonstrate self-initiative while providing the necessary leadership in the operation of the unit
  • Foster a team-oriented environment at the work location
  • Operate and supervise facility in accordance with Culinary Services Group’s standards and particular client requests
  • Fulfill all side work responsibilities as determined by the supervisor
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays
  • This position may be called upon to perform other duties and tasks as determined by the immediate supervisor, client and client location

  • Lifting and moving of food, food containers, equipment, and other non-food related items up to 50 pounds in weight
  • May be exposed to infections/contagious diseases, cleaning agents/chemicals, and electrical/mechanical kitchen equipment
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Serve Safe Certification and any other jurisdiction certifications and formal courses in institution cooking and food services sanitation desired
  • Experience in healthcare, contract or similar food service environment and documented formal training in food service sanitation is preferred
