Job summary

Somerset Court of Goldsboro is seeking an experienced Cook to join our culinary team and provide nutritious, high-quality meals to our residents. You will prepare meals according to menu plans and dietary requirements, and serve them with care and presentation.

This role requires a high school diploma (or equivalent) and prior cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, or restaurant settings. You will work closely with the Dietary Manager to maintain a clean kitchen, follow safety

Qualifications

• Previous cooking experience in a senior living, healthcare, or restaurant setting (preferred).
• Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
• Ability to follow recipes and meal plans.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans and dietary requirements.
• Serve meals in a timely manner with high quality and presentation.

• Collaborate with the Dietary Manager and staff; assist training new kitchen staff.
• Assist with inventory and report shortages to the Dietary Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Food Preparation: Prepare and cook meals according to menu plans, ensuring food is nutritious, appetizing, and prepared according to dietary requirements and resident preferences.
• Meal Service: Ensure meals are served in a timely manner, maintaining high standards of quality, portion control, and presentation.
• Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment by following food safety and sanitation procedures. Ensure proper storage and handling of food supplies.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Dietary Manager and kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations and quality service. Assist in training new kitchen staff as needed.
• Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management and help track food supplies. Report shortages or order needs to the Dietary Manager.
• Resident Engagement: Respond to special dietary requests and accommodate residents’ food preferences, ensuring satisfaction with meals served.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to health and safety regulations, including safe food handling and proper sanitation practices.
