Job summary

Hendricks Behavioral Hospital is seeking a compassionate Cook to prepare and serve meals for patients and staff in a safe, sanitary kitchen. You will follow menus, measure ingredients, and ensure high quality plating while maintaining a clean work area in line with health standards.

The role requires at least two years of quantity cooking experience, knowledge of diets, and a food handler permit. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two (2) years’ experience in quantity cooking.
• Basic knowledge of modified diets; training in food service sanitation.
• Possession of a food handler’s permit as required; experience with industrial kitchen equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and service breakfast, lunch and dinner for patients and staff.
• Follow approved menus and production sheets; adhere to safety standards.
• Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish and poultry.
• Present dishes, maintain cleanliness and food safety, and store ingredients properly.
• Occasionally serve food and assist with line supervision as needed.

In this role, the Cook is responsible for the preparation and service of breakfast, lunch and dinner meals for patients and facility staff according to the approved menu cycle and production sheets within The Joint Commission, CMS, state, and OSHA standards and regulations.Ensure ingredients and final products are freshFollow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredientsBake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foodsPresent, garnish and arrange final dishesOccasionally serve foodMaintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishesHandle and store ingredients and foodMaintain food safety and sanitation standardsYour Experience Matters What we’re looking for:Education: High school diploma preferred.Experience: Must have at least two (2) years’ experience in quantity cooking, a basic knowledge of modified diets; training in food service sanitation and possession of food service food handler’s permit as required; experience utilizing industrial kitchen equipment and utensils; and some prior kitchen supervisory experience helpful.Additional Skill Requirements: Crisis prevention/management training within 30 days of employment and prior to assisting in a restraining procedure.
