Job summary

Western Slope Healthcare Center in Placerville, CA is seeking a dependable Cook to join our Dietary Services team. You will prepare meals for residents, follow approved menus, and help ensure proper food safety and sanitation protocols in a busy kitchen.

The successful candidate will have at least a high school diploma, one year of cooking experience in healthcare, and ServSafe certification or the ability to obtain it. This is a full-time position with benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or long-term care setting preferred.
• ServSafe Certification required (or ability to obtain and maintain).
• Must remain in good standing with the California Department of Public Health.
• Ability to read recipes and follow technical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in large quantities following approved menus and recipes.
• Prepare therapeutic and special diets accurately, including pureed foods.
• Follow portion control guidelines and ensure attractive meal presentation.
• Record and monitor food temperatures to ensure safety compliance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and cooking area.
• Assist with meal service and clean cooking equipment and serving carts.
• Work with nursing and other departments to provide resident care.
