Position: Full-time Cook
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Rotating weekends (Part-time or Full-time)
Job duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Follows recipes and portioning requirements in the preparation of all food.
- Plans and implements individual cooking schedule so that all foods assigned to prepare will be properly cooked and ready at the appropriate time. Assists with preparation of catering items.
- Tastes all food during preparation to ascertain if foods are seasoned and cooked correctly, making adjustments as necessary.
- Ensures that all foods are served / presented in an attractive / appetizing manner.
- Maintains all applicable logs / records (i.e. production, cooling, etc.).
- Monitors food throughout the meal period to ensure that foods are available for replenishing when needed without delay.
- Prepares, labels, dates all leftover food for proper storage.
- Maintains kitchen cleanliness and follows infection control requirements.
- Identifies equipment and environmental needs. Initiates corrective or preventative maintenance; brings these situations to the attention of the Director of Dining Services.
- Complies with resident centered programming.
Required Education, Training and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years cooking experience, or completion of an accredited culinary program.
- Knowledge of Kosher cooking is a plus.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow written recipes.
- Ability to utilize standard kitchen equipment, including but not limited to stoves, griddles, utensils, etc.
