Job summary

Phoenix Senior Living is looking for a dedicated Cook at The Phoenix at Opelika in Arizona. In this role, you will be responsible for food preparation, ensuring meals meet quality and safety standards, and maintaining a clean work environment.

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, with at least one year of food preparation experience. Culinary training and current SERV Safe certification are preferred. This is a full-time or part-time position with shifts from 7:00am to 7:00pm, including weekends.

Location: The Phoenix at Opelika

Job Type: Full-time, Part-time

Shift Details: 7:00am - 7:00pm opening hours, Mon-Fri; every other weekend required

Compensation: $18/hour

Reports to: Food and Beverage Director

Purpose: The Cook is responsible for all food preparation so that food meets and/or exceeds quality, quantity and service schedule requirements and hospitality service standards for the community.

Responsibilities: The Cook will:

  • Prepare and serve meals, following posted menus and approved standardized recipes.
  • Sanitize food service areas and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Keep accurate records and inventory of products.
  • Adhere to production sheets and instructions.
  • Prepare special dietary and texture-modified food as directed.
  • Ensure food items meet minimum guidelines for temperature, taste, and quality.
  • Operate dish machines and dishwashing equipment in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Record and monitor equipment temperatures (manually record refrigerator, freezer, cooking, holding, cooling, and food production quantities).
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and review resident diet records as required.
  • Rotate menus and production sheets.

Qualifications: Candidate must have:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of food preparation experience, including full-line menu items and therapeutic diets.
  • Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred.
  • Current SERV Safe certificate, or ability to obtain one through training.

Salary: $18/hour
