Job summary

Aspen Grove Behavioral Hospital in Utah is seeking a part-time Dietary Cook for a 1pm–7pm shift, including alternating weekend AM/PM coverage. This role offers free meals and free parking and opportunities for career development across UHS locations.

You will be responsible for cooking in large quantities, maintaining a clean kitchen, and ensuring dietary restrictions are followed for patients. A strong institutional cooking background and a Food Handler's Permit are required.

Qualifications

• Experience working in institutional kitchens.
• Ability to cook in large quantities and manage volume.
• Must possess Food Handler's Permit within 90 days of hire.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Takes initiative and identifies tasks needing attention.
• Performs daily cooking and cleaning tasks with a strong work ethic.
• Ensures major equipment like dishwashers, ovens, and steam tables are shut off after use.
• Keeps kitchen and pantry clean, sanitary, and safe; washes dishes and mops floors.
• Adheres to dietary restrictions for each patient.

Position Details:

• Part-Time/PRN Schedule: 1pm - 7pm Monday & Tuesday w/alternating AM & PM shifts on weekends (6A-230P, 1030A-7P, and 1P-7P)

Your goals and objectives include:

• Takes initiative — identifies things that need to be done and takes action
• Displays a hard work ethic and completes daily cooking and cleaning tasks
• Ensures major equipment is shut off, including the dishwasher, ovens, cook tops, steam table, and the cold table
• Maintains a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen and pantry, including washing dishes, mopping floors etc.
• Maintains awareness of and ensures that special dietary restrictions are always applied in preparation of food for each patient

Qualifications

• Experience working in an institutional kitchen is REQUIRED
• Must have strong cooking skills and ability to cook in large quantity - will be the primary cook on weekend shift
• Food Handler's Permit within 90 days of hire required.
• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen
• 21 years of age or older REQUIRED
