  • Plans and prepares foods according to recipes and time schedules.
  • Works as a team member in pre-preparation, preparation, portioning, and storage of food. Assists on patient tray assembly line.
  • Exercises quality control, including portion sizes and temperature standards. Monitors refrigerator and freezer temperatures in designated work areas.
  • Logs information on production sheets and other records required in the department.
  • Assists in food product evaluation, test trays, and environmental sanitation inspections.
  • Maintains a high standard of sanitation in area of responsibility to comply with hospital management, local and state inspectors, JCAHO, and CMS. Cleans and maintains all equipment and work areas.
  • Takes care of hospital equipment and reports any equipment that is not working properly or is unsafe.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Possesses good cooking skills with restaurant or institutional background.
  • Demonstrates creativity, enthusiasm, and a positive demeanor.
  • Works well with others.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to calculate ingredient amounts when adjusting recipes.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and follow oral instructions.
  • Completes Food Services Sanitation class or inservice.
Preferred:
  • Previous food service and major equipment operation experience.

Education equivalent to a high school diploma.
