Job summary

Hillview Community Living Center seeks a Dietary Cook to join our team. The role includes preparing food according to diet specifications, assisting staff, and ensuring kitchen sanitation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalency required.
• One-year certificate from a college or technical school preferred.
• 3-6 months related experience in food preparation or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer service-focused with an outgoing personality.
• Ability to multi-task and manage detail-oriented tasks.
• Intermediate computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to resident diet specifications.
• Review menus prior to food preparation and ensure portioning accuracy.
• Direct and assist dietary staff in food preparation and cleaning.
• Ensure sanitation of dishes, utensils, work areas, and equipment.
• Check meal trays for accuracy with diet cards.
• Maintain proper storage of foods and supplies.
• Assist in inventorying and storing incoming foods.
• Review diet changes and adjust menus.
• Collaborate with Dietary Manager for kitchen efficiency.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Dietary Cook duties include but are not limited to:

• Prepare and cook food according to resident diet specifications, menus, and facility procedures
• Review menus prior to food preparation and ensure accurate portioning
• Direct and assist dietary staff in food preparation, serving, and cleaning
• Ensure sanitation of dishes, utensils, work areas, and equipment
• Check meal trays for accuracy with diet cards
• Maintain proper storage of foods and supplies, ensuring readiness for upcoming meals
• Assist in inventorying and storing incoming foods and supplies
• Review diet changes and adjust menus as necessary
• Collaborate with Dietary Manager and team to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient kitchen
• Perform additional duties as assigned
