Job summary

Cotton Culinary is seeking a Cook to join our Culinary department on a temporary basis. You will oversee meal preparation for large-scale events, lead execution, and ensure high-quality dishes reflect our standards.

The role requires 3-5 years of commercial cooking, formal culinary training a plus, and readiness to travel nationwide. Driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary to service events across the country.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Menu Execution: Oversee meal prep and service for large events.
  • Hands‑On Cooking: Part of the kitchen team, preparing and presenting meals.
  • Ensure Quality & Efficiency: Maintain high food quality and on-time service.
  • Inventory Reporting: Input on inventory, storage, and rotation, safety compliant.
  • Client Relations: Act as main contact for clients during events.

As a hands‑on leader, you’ll be responsible for meal execution, and preparing high-quality dishes for large-scale events. Your role is integral to delivering exceptional culinary experiences for clients during high‑profile events, making a direct impact by preparing and presenting meals that reflect Cotton's high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Menu Execution: Oversee every aspect of meal preparation and service during large-scale banquets and events.
  • Hands‑On Cooking: Be an integral part of the kitchen team, preparing, cooking, and presenting meals to ensure a top‑tier culinary experience.
  • Ensure Quality & Efficiency: Maintain high standards of food quality and presentation, ensuring meals are served on time and to the client's satisfaction.
  • Inventory Reporting: Provide input on inventory, storage, and rotation of ingredients, ensuring that everything is prepared in compliance with safety and health regulations.
  • Client Relations: Serve as the main point of contact for clients during events, providing excellent service and resolving any issues in real‑time.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Education & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of commercial cooking experience, with a focus on quality and high-volume events.
  • Formal culinary training or additional certifications are a plus.
  • Experience in banquet or catering environments, focusing on meal preparation and flawless execution.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability and availability to travel nationwide.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Expert knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and efficient kitchen.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to maintain client relationships and handle high‑pressure situations.
  • Proficiency with commercial kitchen equipment and experience in maintaining food safety standards.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and adapt to the physical demands of the job.
