Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Full-time Cook to join the Food Services Department. The role requires rotating day/evening shifts, 36 hours per week, and every other weekend, with potential sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities include preparing hot foods for patient trayline, café and events, ensuring quality, accuracy and sanitation. Prior experience in hospital or senior care cooking is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience working with the frail or elderly population.
• Food Handlers Certification required upon hire for all locations.
• Experience in restaurant or hospital cook roles preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all hot foods for patient trayline, café, and events including entrees, vegetables, starches and bakery items.
• Maintains quality, portion control and safe food handling practices.
• Works rotating 8-hour shifts and every other weekend in a hospital food service setting.
