Job summary

ABLE in Newport, RI is seeking an experienced Cook for our Healthcare Facility. Pay starts at $24.00/hour depending on experience. Shift is a mix of mornings and evenings.

Schedule may include Sunday, Monday 5:30 AM-2:00 PM and Thursday–Sunday 11:00 AM-7:30 PM.

Cooks are responsible for preparing meals per planned menus and therapeutic diets, ensuring safety, and supervising dietary staff. All applicants must be Food Safety Certified and maintain a current license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve large quantities of food in accordance with planned menus and therapeutic diets.
• Supervise dietary staff to ensure quality of service.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
• Maintain temperature logs, label and date refrigerated foods.
• Assist in the storage of supplies and food products.
• Complete daily and scheduled cleaning assignments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Perform additional related duties as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager.

Description: The cooks are responsible to prepare and serve meals in accordance with current applicable federal and state regulations and standards for long term care. The cook is responsible to prepare and serve meals in accordance with planned menus and therapeutic diets. The cook will perform and direct activities of the dietary staff to ensure timely, efficient meal service in a safe and sanitary manner. All applicants must be Food Safety Certified and maintain a current license.
