Job summary

Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury is seeking a full-time Cook at our state-of-the-art Skilled Nursing Facility in Lake Katrine, NY. You will prepare meals according to planned menus, serve aesthetically pleasing dishes, and ensure proper portions for residents.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, prior kitchen experience, and the ability to read and understand English. This role offers competitive pay and benefits, with opportunities to contribute to our mission

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior industrial/commercial kitchen experience.
• Able to read, write, and understand English.
• Dependable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Accurate and organized.
• Full-Time 37.5 hours/week including alternate Saturdays and Sundays.
• Able to work overtime or flexible shifts when needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepare and serve meals palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures.
• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus.
• Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.
• Provide appropriate equipment and utensils with resident's meal tray.
• Review care plans to ensure dietary information matches foods served.
• Prepare and serve substitute foods for residents who refuse foods.

Our facility is designed to promote re-acquisition of cognitive, physical, and social skills in a naturalistic setting. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cook to join our team and contribute to our mission of REBUILDING BODY, MIND & SPIRIT.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare meals in accordance with planned menus

• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance

• Serve food in accordance with established portion control procedures

• Prepare food for therapeutic diets in accordance with planned menus

• Prepare food in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders

• Be sure that appropriate equipment and utensils are provided with the resident's meal tray

• Review care plans to assure that current dietary information is consistent with foods served

• Prepare and serve substitute foods to residents who refuse foods served
