Cypress Garden Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Queens, NY is seeking a reliable Cook to join our dietary team. The ideal candidate is fast-paced, detail-oriented, and passionate about preparing quality meals in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities include preparing meals for residents and staff, maintaining food safety, and ensuring proper temperatures and sanitation. Prior hospital or skilled nursing experience is preferred; strong English reading and communication are required.

Qualifications

• 1+ year cooking experience in a skilled nursing facility or hospital setting (preferred).
• Ability to read and communicate in English.
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and cooking techniques.
• Knowledge of safe food temperatures and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure.

Position: Cook

Location: Queens, New York

Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Full-Time & Part-Time Available)

Pay Rate: $24.00 per hour

Cypress Garden Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation is seeking a reliable and skilled Cook to join our dietary team. The ideal candidate is fast-paced, detail-oriented, and passionate about preparing quality meals in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals for residents and staff in accordance with recipes, production sheets, and scheduled meal times
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and storage guidelines
• Monitor and record food temperatures to ensure compliance with safety standards
• Keep kitchen areas clean, organized, and inspection-ready
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while multitasking effectively

Requirements

• Ability to cook and prepare meals independently
• Strong knife skills and knowledge of proper food handling techniques
• Ability to read and communicate in English
• Knowledge of safe food temperatures and sanitation standards
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure
• Minimum of 1 year cooking experience in a skilled nursing facility or hospital setting (preferred)
• Experience preparing meals in large quantities
• Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and cooking techniques
• Understanding of infection control procedures
