We are looking for a part-time Cook to bring their culinary talents to Saint Therese - IHM Senior Living Community. We provide a home for seniors who want to live in a place that has the full continuum of care - meaning residents can move into independent living and then as their care needs evolve, they can move to assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or stay in our short- term rehab center. We are a five-star facility licensed by Medicare and Medicaid and staffed by people who have the experience and passion to provide exceptional care.


Positions available include working every other weekend and every other holiday:



  • Full Time - 10 shifts per two week pay period

    • Hours: Majority 10am to 6:30pm with potential for some shifts to work 6am to 2:30pm




The Cook position is responsible for creating high-quality meals for our residents, ensuring that all food is crafted to meet established state and local food codes, regulations, and best practices. This role involves meticulous attention to detail in meal preparation to maintain the highest standards of nutrition and safety.


Job duties encompass a range of responsibilities including cooking and baking, as well as cleaning equipment and maintaining operations. You will prepare both hot and cold meals for residents, manage food service for the coffee shop and special events, and carry out general cleaning tasks to ensure a well-organized kitchen environment.


Qualifications:


Education:



  • Culinary degree or certification (preferred but not required with equivalent experience).

  • Background in nutrition or specialized diets (mechanical, pureed, low-sodium, diabetic diets etc.).


Experience:



  • Minimum of 1-3 years of professional culinary experience, preferably in assisted living dining, high-end hospitality, or open-kitchen concepts.

  • Experience working in high-pressure environments while maintaining quality and presentation.


Special knowledge, skills and abilities



  • Ability to read English and follow dietary cards, menus and production sheets.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to communicate through English oral and written skills.

  • Background in menu development and dietary accommodations (allergies, restrictions, and preferences).

  • Proven ability to manage a solo operation or work with a small team efficiently.

  • Strong understanding of food safety protocols and kitchen sanitation.

  • Exceptional cooking skills with an ability to execute high-quality meals consistently.

  • Ability to plan, prep, and execute multiple meals daily without compromising quality.

  • Capable of adjusting menus based on ingredient availability and client preferences.

  • Keeps a well-maintained, organized, and hygienic workspace at all times.

  • Can work independently, meet deadlines, and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision.

  • When working with support staff, must be able to delegate effectively while maintaining a positive team dynamic by working along with the nursing staff.

  • Willingness to adjust to flexible hours based on client needs.
