The starting rate for this position is $18.18 per hour with a $2,000 sign-on bonus. This is an on-site position.

Vinson Hall Retirement Community (VHRC), a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community located in beautiful McLean, VA, is currently seeking an energetic team player to join our team as an experienced Cook.

The primary responsibilities for this position include:

• Perform daily maintenance checks for equipment operation, temperature control, and safety standards. Advise supervisor of needed maintenance repairs. Ensure that all Federal and State regulatory and licensure requirements are met.
• Review daily menu, pull and prep all items necessary for menu requirements and special functions. Prepare and distribute food for residents, guests, and employees according to established production guidelines and sanitation standards.
• Ensure that all food items are covered, dated, properly stored, and stacked. Discard outdated or potentially unsafe/contaminated food.
• Ensure that all hot foods are "hot" and cold foods are "cold," meeting Fairfax County's Health Department's mandated minimum and maximum temperatures.
• Participate in catering of special functions. Be involved in planning and implementing special holiday menus.
