Job summary

NHC HealthCare Maryland Heights is seeking a Dietary Cook to prepare patient meals and support the Food Nutrition Service Team in a healthcare setting. Responsibilities include cooking, food prep, kitchen cleaning, and following diet orders and menus to ensure quality service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food prep, cooking, kitchen cleaning, and other duties as assigned.
• Review menus, therapeutic menus, recipes, and production sheets; prepare and serve diets as planned with proper portions and diets.
• Follow standardized recipes and diet orders; prepare quantities to meet service requirements.
• Test and taste foods for appearance, flavor, aroma, and temperature; adjust as needed.
• Time meal preparation to meet service schedule for patients and customers.
• Check trays for accuracy of diets, preferences, and quality; deliver carts to floors.

Position: Dietary Cook

A Food Service Team Member performs various duties associated with the production of patient meals such as assist with food prep, cooking, kitchen cleaning, and other duties as assigned.

We provide restaurant style dining for our residents and their families; offering you the opportunity to interact with our residents and their families.

Job Type: Full Time, Part-Time

Work Shifts: Morning 5:a- 1p, Evening 11:30a-7:30p

Position Highlights

• Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies to prevent waste and assure quality products. Dates, labels, and stores items properly. Uses proper food handling techniques.
• Review's menus, therapeutic menus, recipes, and production sheets before preparing meals; prepares and serves diets properly, accurately, and attractively as planned using proper portions and special diet items.
• Follows standardized recipes and special diet orders, preparing sufficient quantities to meet all service requirements.
• Responsible for testing and tasting foods of all consistencies for proper appearance, flavor, aroma, and temperature and adjust if needed.
• Responsible for timing of preparation of meals/snacks to meet time schedule for service for patients and customers to ensure all meals/snacks are served as scheduled.
• Checks trays for accuracy of diets, preferences, and quality before they are delivered. Serves on tray line and delivers carts to floors as needed.
