Job summary

Home of the Innocents in Louisville is seeking a reliable Cook to join our team. You will follow recipes, prepare and serve meals, and ensure quality food service by adhering to policies and procedures.

Shifts are full-time with rotating weekends. The role requires attention to safety, cleanliness, and documentation, along with a teamwork mindset and a commitment to serving residents and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Must read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Basic math skills needed (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
  • Able to adapt to residents, staff, and visitors' needs.

Responsibilities

  • Follow recipes, prepare and serve food per guidelines.
  • Ensure HACCP/food safety procedures are followed.
  • Complete daily paperwork, data collection, and temperature logs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Adhere to cleaning schedules and safety policies.
  • Assist with departmental projects as required.

A Day in the Life

As a Cook you will follow recipes, prepare and serve food and ensure that quality food service is always maintained by following established policies and procedures.

Shifts Available
  • Full time; hours will vary by department needs
  • Rotating weekend shifts will be required
How This Position Contributes to our Mission
  • Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Prep and cook meal items as directed by the Kitchen Manager or Director of Food Services.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, forms, data collection, and temperature logs daily.
  • Maintain cleanliness in work areas by adhering to established cleaning schedules, ensuring equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored and in good working order.
  • Follow all food safety procedures, including proper handwashing, safe food handling, and proper sanitation.
  • Assist with departmental projects as assigned or required.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English.
  • Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication).
  • Must have the ability to adapt to the needs of the residents, staff, and visitors.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Serv-Safe certification is preferred.
