Position Overview
The Grill Master (Cook) creates a "Best in Class" guest experience at El Pollo Loco by preparing grilled and hot food items, following company standards for preparation and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, marinate, season, cook, and rotate chicken and other proteins according to standards.
- Receive orders, cut cooked chicken, and arrange proteins for presentation.
- Monitor hold times and ensure food quality and safety.
- Maintain proper food temperatures and store raw proteins appropriately.
- Inspect raw proteins for quality.
- Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment.
- Assist on prep lines as needed.
- Strive to meet customer expectations and work collaboratively with team members.
- Assist in training new cooks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Food Handler Certification (obtained promptly upon hire).
- One or more years of restaurant cooking experience preferred but not required.
- Willingness to cross-train and learn new skills.
- Positive attitude, strong communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Commitment to uphold company standards and values.

- Stand, talk, hear, and use senses regularly.
- Handle objects and equipment.
- Lift up to 40 lbs.
- Work in noisy, hot, and wet environments.
