Job summary

Texas Cattle Company in Lakeland, Florida is looking for dedicated line cooks who have a passion for food quality and excellent service for our guests. As part of our family-owned restaurant since 1974, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting dishes in a timely manner and maintaining a clean work environment.

The ideal candidates will have over 2 years of kitchen experience and a commitment to safety and sanitation protocols. In return, we offer competitive health benefits, flexible schedules, and a family-oriented atmosphere.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding of food handling and safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items according to restaurant guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
  • Assist with additional responsibilities as needed by management.

Essential Functions
  • Set up station according to restaurant guidelines.
  • Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner.
  • Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  • Restocks all items as needed throughout shift.
  • Cleans and maintains stations in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills.
  • Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station.
  • Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas.
  • Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Chef or Kitchen Manager at any time.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Passion for cooking and hospitality
  • Understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
  • 2+ years' prep or line cook experience.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Commitment to quality service, and food and beverage knowledge.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, reach, push, twist, walk, crouch, and squat.
  • Prolonged periods standing and preparing and cooking food.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times.
